Sumi grounds every judgment in dictionary data and a native-speaker rubric, and runs it on your device. It is designed to catch the common, embarrassing mistakes (wrong meaning, bargain-bin words, mistress/medical traps). It is honest guidance — for a permanent tattoo, always confirm with your artist too.
Sumi uses Apple's on-device intelligence so your ideas never leave your phone. That feature requires a device that supports Apple Intelligence. On other devices Sumi falls back to an offline dictionary check.
Foreign names are sounds, so the accurate rendering is katakana. Meaning-based kanji is artistic ateji — Sumi tells you honestly which is which.
Purchases are handled by Apple. Refund requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com.
